16 inches is the offset of a stone at stone hedge that was errected in 1965 after it felt down. but was placed 16 inches of it original place. At that time the people doing the restoration thought they where exactly. But later computer simulation showed that the original placement was 16 inches off. With all our technology and pretensions we where so much more inaccurate then our before-before-before grand parents. This concept was used in a performance I did in New York to illustrate the lack of consciences of current societies about out past. the flyer was also 16 inches, represented by a closeup picture of a stone on the edge of the dover channel.
